It's been a little over a year since my first blog post. There were a few reasons why I took a year to get to my second blog post. Firstly, I didn't have a clear idea of what I wanted to write about with this blog (it felt more like something that I started on a wimp). It was 2 months into the pandemic, and I was still getting used to not being able to go anywhere whenever I liked to. Not that I have gone out much these past 12 months, but I've definitely gotten used to doing a lot from a screen.
Secondly, I didn't really have a passion for writing back then compared to now. This year, I had to write a 20 page paper for a course on the studies of Johann Sebastian Bach amongst other essays and I was actually able to learn proper formatting; citation; writing a thesis and more. I went from being distressed by every writing assignment and taking forever pulling the hair out of my head to write down something good, to finding a topic of interest, doing research; gathering sources; and writing everything out (and hitting the word count) in much less time. Not that I have mastered the art of writing yet, but it was definitely a long-awaited improvement from circa 2013-2016 during my high school eras. This experience has undeniably boosted my confidence in writing.
I had also become busy with studying Japanese, because I will be going there one day. For sure to travel, but also for mission related work. *I'll talk more about this in my next post. I started from the lowest level (N5) to now almost finished with the second highest level (N2). I'm pretty impressed with this progress to be honest, especially since I was working and studying at the same time during the fall, and had a not-the-lightest course load for this winter.
Many things happened within the last year, and Toronto has been through at least 3 lockdowns (currently still in one now), but I thank God for providing for my family and keeping everyone safe. Even though the future is still uncertain for me, the world doesn't stop moving forward, so I should do the same too. I have read a book last year on productivity, and the author explained how he was able to be a university professor, write books, do research, and maintain a hobby at the same time. He said that instead of hanging on one project for a very long time, you can change tasks when you're getting tired of one, and do it multiple times during the day to keep it more productive. This idea has stayed with me until now, and it's so applicable (of course, please don't do this if you have to focus on one task at a time for your job).
I aim to write weekly entries and although I still can't pinpoint exactly what I'll be writing here, I know that I will be writing about faith, books, life, and hobbies. This is quite a wide range, so I'm looking forward to it all~✨
I'll be ending this entry here, see you in the next one! 🍀
